2011 New Year Update

Our family has, yet again, begun the New Year with the loss of a loved one. My brother-in-law, JL, passed away on the 3rd of January. He will be greatly missed by our family. He was a jester who mercilessly teased EVERYONE. He was also an example of generosity. Not only had he dedicated 27 years of his life as a fireman, he was always the guy one could count on to pitch in and help out when ever or where ever needed.
This loss has been especially hard on Mr.B. He has lost both sets of grandparents, both his parents and now his only sibling. To make matters worse for Mr.B, JL was two years younger than he. JL's passing was quick and unexpected. This is yet another reminder to cherish each day we have with our loved ones, it may be the last day we spend with them.
Mr. B had enjoyed a nice telephone conversation with JL the evening before his passing. I am thankful Mr.B had the opportunity to spend a little time with him, even if it was via the telephone, before he passed.
My prayer for you: is that you take a little extra time this week to connect with those you love and care about.

  1. How sad when it happens so suddenly, also very hard to be the last one in the family left I imagine. Our son in law at 47 last month had a heart attack, luckily he made it through but very nearly did not ,we appreciate his life so much and tell him all the time how we love him.I agree with all you say we must appreciate and feel blessed at times we have with those we care about .Carolexx

  6. I'm sorry for you loss. Praying He knew the Lord and knowing that one day you'll see him again one day.

March is our big month for losses. The one month I wish to hurry thru each year and with my dad's health the way it is right, it will be an especially "hurry up March".

    God's Blessings

  8. Tegan,

thank you for your prayers and kind words.

    Vickie,
unfortunately, JL had not, to the beat of our knowledge, ever accepted Christ as his saviour. although he was the sort of fellow who would ultimately "do what is right and good" in the eyes of man, we believe there is only one way to everlasting life. his passing has been especially difficult.
thank you for your prayers and kind words.

  9. I don't know you and I know this is an old post, but I remembered your blog fro reading many months ago. My parents are aging, I am 43, my sis's kids are growing up, and my bil has already lost his brother, a baby niece, and both his parents, and at least one set of parents since I have known him..........:( My dad's sister died this past winter, and my mom's brother died in 2007. Another of her brothers died when I was 14. A cousin's daughter died by suicide about three years ago, and another cousin died possibly by suicide when we were teens. Two of my grandparents died before I was even born so I never got to know them. My grandmother died when I was ten, and my other grandfather when I was twenty. I wish I could have known all these people more!!!!! I'm sure there have been other deaths, oh my husbands dad died, but they were a little estranged. I can't really deal with any more death or funerals. Many adults I knew when young have passed away this last decade. It's all so hard to take sometimes........I understand the gospel of Jesus, but I guess I don't understand everything about life, and even still, it's hard to accept......Sorry for your loss.........Hope you both are doing better. :) Robyn in Huntsville.
