... we recently enjoyed a wonderful visit with extended family. I had not seen one of my aunts and cousin in 25 years. I can not express how blessed we all were to have them visit. I've prayed for restoration in my family for more than a decade and I am confident our Lord is working that out.
I am so glad we have finished kidding. It was a tough season for us. We lost 5 babies, one doe, 3 of our does had miscarriages, and we had to pull one kid that was stillborn. I am glad it is over. We ended up with two bottle kids, Tuffy and Cotton. Tuffy, the little black kid was a preemie and could not push up on his front legs for more than two weeks after birth. Cotton, the little blonde kid was born to a doe who was having some health issues and was not producing any milk.
As you can see from the photo, both Tuffy and Cotton are now doing well. They follow me around and were a big hit with younger children at the rodeos. Yes, I had to take these two with us because I am still bottle feeding them every 6 hours.
We have 5 kittens (baby bunnies). Three are gray, one is black and one is white with gray spots. I've sold three of them to a 4-Her and they are ready to go to their new home this week. I am excited to see how they will place at this year's county fair.
It appears all the goings on have made Farmer Boy as tired as I am. Yesterday I caught Farmer Boy "walking" his 4-H lamb, Chuckles - hee! hee! I had a good laugh when I saw this and I hope it brings some laughter to your day as well.
I'm so sorry you lost all those goats but oh are those 2 little ones adorable! The baby bunnies are as well. I had goats as a child and loved to run and play with them. :) The picture of your son "walking" his lamb did crack me up.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you had such a good time with your relatives and that there has been restoration of relationships there. What a blessing that is. Still praying that we will experience that with some of our family also.
Be blessed!
Hi Debbie,
DeleteI thought a few of my readers would find that photo as funny as I did. Regarding our goat kids, in addition to the two bottle kids we have 13 others that have also survived.
I encourage you to be patient with the Lord regarding the restoration of family relationships. He not only needs to work things out in your heart but also the hearts of others and this just simply seems to take time. I have been estranged from most of my family for 32 years. Only a decade ago did I begin praying for restoration because I did not want future generations to continue this unhealthy pattern. I continue to be estranged from most of my extended family but building relationships with my father, brothers, 2 aunts, and 1 cousin is a terrific beginning. Praise be to God for His mercy, and His restorative love.
Blessings,
Mrs.B
Haha! Love the picture of Farmer Boy!! I, too, am very happy that your prayers are being answered 😊
ReplyDeleteHello Rhonda,
DeleteI wish you could see the smile on my face when I saw your comment. I always get excited when people I love visit my blog. Praying all is well with you all.
Love,
Mrs.B
they are awesome, I just love your farm and all your animals if I were younger I would have them too, but two dogs are as much as I am able to care for.
ReplyDeleteHello Mrs. Barbara,
DeleteWhen I saw you had visited my blog a big smile crept across my face. You and your lovely family are often in my prayers.
There are days when I wonder if I'm not getting too old for all this farming stuff ... I'm sure your two dogs bring you much joy and plenty of laughs - I know our dog, Sam, brings us quite a few laughs.
Blessings,
Mrs.B
It's been so long since I've visited your blog that I didn't even recognize it! Beautiful work!! I need you to teach me how to update my blog!
ReplyDeleteSuch cuteness in those precious animals! Love to see them and especially the "walking" of the lamb!! LOL!! <3
Hope to see you all sometime in the near future...it's been too long!
Oh My Yes, Shelly ... it has been Waaaaay too long since we've visited. Between kidding, baseball, rodeo, gardening and 4-H, I am simply too busy. I recently informed Mr.B that next year something MUST go. We will HAVE to kid out in April or June, absolutely no more May kiddings, and maybe eliminate baseball. I've been so busy this year, I was only able to get 1/2 my garden space planted.
DeleteLate July on my calendar is looking like things might slow down a bit and I must plan a visit up your way.
Blessings to you and your beautiful family,
Mrs.B
